Before you is a play of words that hides the interpretation and meaning of the GalBaia brand. Meet the Roman doctor, GALen, and deity of the Australian natives, BAIAme. Both names are involved in the story of the "natural dermatheca", which strives to produce quality, clean and certified high-quality active cosmetics.
GALen
Claudius Galen (131–201) was an ancient physician, writer, and philosopher born in the Greek city of Pergamon. As a curious young physician, his path led him to Rome, where he became the personal physician of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Today, along with Hippocrates, he is considered the founder of Western medicine and pharmacy. He was a pioneer in the production of medicines, with both galenic laboratories and galenic products sharing his name today.
He was the first to manage to make a cream from both water and oil. Galen’s cooling ointment therefore marks the beginning of the history of cosmetics. Until then, people used only oils for skin care. Galen’s cooling cream changed everything: in one product, it managed to combine olive oil and rose water (hydrolate) with the help of beeswax. This cream was not very stable, but it still represented a true revolution at the time.
Galen cream is still the basis of all creams in cosmetics.
BAIAme (Biame, Baayami, Baayama or Byamee)
From Europe, we now jump to another continent, the home of natural ingredients in my products. Welcome to Australia, home of the Aboriginals. These peoples were once hunters and gatherers, living in perfect harmony with nature and all living things. In their view, the nature that gave them water and food was a legacy left by their ancestors to future generations. The Aboriginals have many old traditions of beliefs, ranging from ghosts and spiritual forces to forest elves and gods.
One such deity is Baiame, the great creator and father of heaven. When he descended to earth from the heavens, he created rivers, forests, and mountains – a land as the very first Australians found it. He then gave to them laws by which to live, as well as customs and culture. Grateful for the gifts of life and nature that were bestowed upon them, the Aboriginal people have since cared for the natural land of their ancestors, maintaining and nurturing its beauty.
From this Australian nature they are selected some of the finest ingredients for products.
